💚 Team SBK is excited to bring you another installment of our Local Loves. Today's featured Local Business is Willow's Groomer in #Oviedo. Meet Ashley White - Owner & Groomer:
1. When did you start the Willow’s Groomer brand and what was the inspiration behind it?
We started our brand about 6 months ago when we first opened. My husband and I wanted something modern and bold that would be eye-catching but also memorable. I was thinking something between the Target brand and Pink at Victoria's Secret.
2. What kind of services do you offer in your shop?
Our shop offers a wide variety of services for people's dogs, cats, and other furry friends. From haircuts to baths, to nail painting, and even hair dying! If you can think of it, or even want it for your fur baby, we will do it!
3. What do you find most challenging about running the business?
The most challenging thing I would say is having to adapt and grow with how your business is actually doing. My husband and I started our business with a 2-year business plan and very quickly (about month 1) had to revise and adapt to how we are actually doing, because we needed to hire long before we thought we would need to. My husband is amazing though at keeping up with our trends and all the numbers so it all goes very smoothly for the most part.
4. What is the most rewarding thing about running Willow’s Groomer?
The most rewarding thing about running and owning Willow's Groomer is a mix between helping and serving people in our community all while getting to know them like family and working with amazing people who also become like family to me. We have clients that come in with their first pet ever and we walk them through all the difficulties of owning a puppy or kitten. Through this, they come into our shop just to say hi even if their pet isn't here! We absolutely love being apart of their life and making life fun with pets.
5. How many team members do you employ at a time?
As of right now, we have me, a full-time groomer named Jessica Thomas and a bather named Melanie Reynolds.
6. Why did you choose Oviedo for a location?
My husband Cameron and I started the business here in Oviedo for many reasons. My family has been in Oviedo for 26 years now, and I grew up in town. This place has always felt like home to me. The building we actually purchased for our shop, I have seen it become many different things over the years, and it's a bit surreal to now own it. My husband Cameron came to Oviedo for UCF and loved it so much here he never left. We both see how much this city has grown, and are honored to be apart of it today as a small business.
